The Pan African Universities Debate Championships which is affectionately known as PAUDC is the biggest intercollegiate debate championships in Africa. Established in 2008 by the University of Botswana Debate Masters Association (UBDMA), it’s a competition that provides students from various African universities the opportunity to interrogate issues of African a global importance.
Team Ghana, represented by Masters Erasmus Segbefia and Boakye Nyamekye Isaac, has made Ghana proud by winning the prestigious competetion for the first time and accumulating a total medal count of 11.
Isaac Boakye and Erasmus Segbefia from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Techology, KNUST made history on 10th December, 2018 when they became the first West African University Debate Team to top the Pan African Universities Debate Championship after the 9 preliminary rounds.
Also The University of Ghana Debate Society also made History as they advanced to grand finale competing with fellow Ghanaian team, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST.

Isaac Boakye also emerged as the Best Speaker for the entire tournament.

Jeremiah Sekyi (UG) – 3rd Best Public Speaker.
Kelly Corchill (UG) won Best New Judge and 2nd Best Judge for Debate.
