Virgil Abloh is an African American DJ, music producer and Fashion Designer. He is the chief executive officer of street fashion label, Off-white. Abloh entered the world of fashion with an internship at Fendi in 2009 along rapper Kanye West.
Virgil Abloh’s Off-white was born in 2012 after he met Kanye West and became his Creative Consultant working on tour merch, album covers and set design. After the birth of Off-white, this street brand quickly became one of the most sought after brands in the world.
In early 2018, Virgil Abloh was named Artistic Director of Luois Vuittons Menswear making him the first African American to hold such a position.
Just recently, according to the Lyst Index quarterly report, Abloh’s Street Fashion brand is the world’s most popular and hottest fashion brand beating the likes of Louis Vuitton, Prada and Kanye Wests “Yeezy”. A year ago, Off white was ranked 34th on the list.
Following in second place is the Italian Fashion brand Gucci with Balenciaga falling in third place. Sports brand, Nike and Prada are fourth and fifth on the list respectively.
